The green-logoed coffee chain, Starbucks, decided to embrace more green ideas. A sculpture crafted by Starbucks was displayed on June 8th at the Festival Walk mall in Hong Kong. All the materials of the artwork stemmed from plastic water bottles which were collected across the town for 10 weeks.
The giant water droplet sculpture was modeled by 100 youngsters from the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation. It is intended to promote the green investment to the point where users could reduce the use of or to recycle plastic water bottles. Hosts of the event include Starbucks' general manager Thomas Hahn, the foundation's Wendy Tsang and Green Sense's Jan Lai.
‘1-litre plastic bottle requires 5 litres of water’ said Lai. Through the exhibition, roughly 35000 bottles could be recycled and more water will be wasted, which goes further to make green ideas possible.
Other green actions were also introduced into the fair by local figures, such as ground coffee could be applied to plant fertilizer and some water containers are used for outdoor activities.
The best way to carry out eco-friendly scheme is to consume as few bottles as possible and recycle as much waste as possible. The more we engage it in, the better the environment will be.
